The WG200 wet stone sharpening machine offers fantastic performance and versatility in a compact and easy to use machine.
Included with the machine are a range of essential tools and jigs, not only making this package fantastic value for money but
also allowing accurate sharpening straight from the box. A full range of optional jigs and accessories are available which are
compatible with the 12 mm bar system of the Record Power WG250 as well as many other brands of grinder.
The WG200 features smooth and responsive variable speed, a real bonus for a more compact machine. The torque can also be
adjusted, enabling heavier grinding without fear of the stone or honing wheel slipping under pressure.
Adjustable Torque
Some machines rely purely
on the weight of the motor
to apply drive to the wheel.
This can be insufficient for
more demanding tasks.
The WG200 has adjustable
torque so you can easily
apply the correct pressure
for the job in hand.
Adjustable Speeds from 150 250
rpm
As the stone wears, its diameter reduces and so in effect
the speed of the wheel¹s rotation is increased. On most
machines you cannot do anything about this, but with
the WG200 you can lower the speed to compensate. In
addition, when you want to remove material more quickly
you can increase the speed of the stone.
Control The Fineness of the Grind
Using the supplied stone grader, the stone can be dressed
to provide either a coarse or fine grind.

Basic grinding unit OK . Plastic water tray and tools very disappointing – flimsy and cheap and tolls don’t fit so you can’t use it easily. Still struggling with it. Shame really as basic grinder is good.

The sharpener itself is a good bit of kit however unless it comes free don’t bother with the diamond flattened, it doesn’t fit on the rest that comes with it. Other than this, like I said, a good bit of kit. Four stars because of the diamond flattener

Bought this for my son for his birthday and he is very pleased with it. He has used it to sharpen all his tools and kitchen knives and is very pleased with the results. Does what it is intended to do and does it well. Must make sure it is grinding square before ploughing on and adjust as required. Being a retired tool maker I am a bit picky and find all woodworking machinery a bit crude even perhaps Wadkin, but I suppose it’s what you get used to, still this works well as desctribed.

Great little machine which has had a far amount of use since purchase. Our members are finding all sorts of blunt chisels. The only comment that we have which I will e mail separately on is the truing tool, it doesn look like its got any diamons attached

There was a fault with the support bar, the required right angle providing 88.5 degrees. This was changed immediately by the Record Power support team. I also had to amend the short tool jig with a file.
For the Money, excellent value and very good results on all my turning and carving tools. My two chisel rolls are yet to be done.

Generally happy with the grinder – made a good job of sharpening chisels and plane irons. Disappointing that the woodworkers jig kit does not appear to have a jig for a parting tool – I will have to fashion something. I have not tried the other gouge sharpening jigs yet
The grinding machine appears well made and solid. Minor quibles include that the on/off switch is not easily available when using the horizontal jig support – you have to reach over the moving wheels to turn it off, which seems potentially unsafe. Also a means to reverse direction of the wheel rotation would have been helpful – eg if you are sharpening using the vertical jig support on the grinding wheel then it is necessary to turn the machine around to use the leather honing wheel on the horizontal support.

I bought this purely to reset my primary bevels on chisels and plane blades. I spent a lot of time researching what’s out there and read a lot of reviews. Im a hobbyist woodworker and couldn’t justify paying much money for a wet stone.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with my choice. Yes, the quality isn’t amazing, but for £169 it’s actually fantastic value. I spent 30 mins setting it up and trueing the wheel. This turned out to be a job I went back to, as I didn’t quite manage it the first time. Once done, I reset the primarys on all my plane blades in a fraction of the time it would have taken me by hand. I was quite surprised how sharp I could get it by just going straight to the honing wheel. Sharp enough to shave hairs off my arm. I could definitely get it sharper by finishing by hand on my 6000 grit Japanese stone and a strop though. All in all, Im chuffed I chose this tool. The hollow grind is not as dramatic as I though and it actually means I have to remove less material when sharpening by hand. Can’t speak for the long term quality as I will likely use it once every couple of months

I’ve only tried out the wetstone to sharpen up 4 old chisels and it definitely worked well on them. I’ve still not used the honing wheel, but I’m hoping it work just as well.

Some of the best money I have spent on tools over the last 40 years. Amazingly easy to obtain all the correct sharpening angles. My biggest problem now is making sure to put chisels down in a safe place when not using them to avoid all the nicks on your fingers. It takes no time at all to put an edge on chisels and gouges making them so much easier to use. The jig for sharpening chisels is so simple. It’s virtually impossible to get it wrong. One of the biggest pluses is the fact that it is so reasonably priced. No problem whatsoever in giving this 5 stars
