Yes you can buy more expensive brands just like all tools
Having read all the reviews and considering budget we went for this . Watched the DVD ( not like me ) but very helpful
After set up and dressing the stone etc , had a little bit of practice to get use to it .
Very happy with the results
Over the years I’ve not been disappointed with my old oil stone and leather strop ( shave the hairs off the back of my hand no problem ) But i have to say with this machine my tools have never been so sharp, it certainly gives them the edge .
Even our kitchen knives have had a birthday
Was a good purchase

I got the 10” wetstone last month and so it’s time to write a review. Despite some poor reviews found online I am more than happy. I previously owned a Tormek gouge jig which works well with this machine. The stone was true and the strop ok after a bit of work on it. Some folks have said that the stone wears quickly with grooves but I find this not to be the case as long as you move the gouge about evenly. This is good value for money and my gouges only need a few seconds touching up before they are back in action.
