Green Oak specialists
The Green oak mill has adapted over the years and now imports ready cut beams from France on a regular basis together with still converting logs on our giant saw. This allows us great flexibility and the ability to meet customer cutting lists in a timely manner. We keep a large stock of precut beams, a lot of which you can see on the website in standard sizes such as 100mm x 100mm, 150mm x 150mm and 200mm x 200mm in various lengths and these can often be supplied the same day. We also stock longer lengths that are not on the website and that are available locally as transport makes it impossible to sell online. This allows us flexibility in cutting lists and the ability to supply pieces up to 6m in sections up to 200mm square.
To compliment this the log saw allows us to cut bigger and wider sections up to 4m, with the only limit being the size of the trees. This often means that we can cut section sizes up 500mm. All of this is overseen by the sawmill manager and the Sawmill sawyer giving 50 years of milling experience and knowledge to ensure that the quality of the timber meet customer needs for the jobs the timber is extended for. It also means that if there is a problem we have the ability to react quickly to ensure there isn’t a delay on a project. We keep a quick turnaround of 3-5 working days for most order sizes and maintain a consistent standard of high-quality timber products
If costs and time are more of a factor or if pieces longer than 6ms are required the sawmill works with its partner French mill to ensure that all customer needs are met. We can offer QP1 or QPA beams on a 3-4 week lead in a comparable service to other merchants.
We can also offer in house added value services.
The sawmill manager is qualified to BS5756:2007+A2:2017 which is the UK hardwood grading standard and so we can offer TH1/2 for smaller sections and THA/B for larger sections meaning that we can meet the structural requirements of your oak build.
The sawmill also has a 300mm Maafeel hand plane meaning that we can offer a high quality planed finish on green oak if a smooth finish is required.
We have recently invested in brand new cross cut meaning that we can square beams up to 200mm thick , offering a 90 degree cut to length service. This is perfect for lintels, plinths or posts where you don’t want to struggle with a set square and a hand saw or where a joint isn’t needed.
On top of the that we can offer one way, two way and four tops on beams, creating bollards, gate posts.

Machined products
One thing we have learnt is that it is better to produce something ourselves and then we can control the quality and leads and therefore we have slowly built up the machining that we can do onsite and the services we offer.
We have always offered a cut to size service, but this has been expanded to include to first PAR and now a number of moulds including bullnose, chamfer and a small round. We have giant 600mm helical block planer, a four knife moulder and a 5 moulder to work with. We offer the cut to size service in a number of timbers including, Oak, Sapele, Ash and Beech and it means you have a fixed cost on your project, whilst guaranteeing quality timber and machining. Each piece will be selected, parallel edged and then machined to the required dimensions. Quotes can be attained through our online calculator or through the office on 01935 822207 option 3.
Through the moulders we are able to offer lots of machined products such as skirting, flooring and cladding. It gives us flexibility on the quantity we need to produce and also ensures a speedy lead time. Most of these we keep in stock or machine to order on 3-5 day lead time.
