The BS400 bandsaw offers high quality, industrial features and large capacities to the mid range bandsaw market. This machine brings affordable solid performance and reliability within reach of the discerning woodworker.
Like all bandsaws in the range, a solid cast iron table provides unrivalled stability and solidity. An industrial style cast trunnion supports the table and allows it to be tilted one-handed on a rack and pinion. Dynamically balanced cast iron bandwheels ensure superior strength and reduced vibration – a feature not usually found on other machines at this level. The 2hp motor and 305mm depth of cut mean this machine can cope easily with large timbers yet is also equally capable of fine, precise cuts and veneers.
The exceptional value for money this machine offers is difficult to appreciate without seeing the machine first hand. If you are in the market for a high specification mid-range bandsaw, be sure to seek out the BS400 at your nearest dealer or at one of our many shows and compare it to other bandsaws on the market

Excellent machine. I’ve had my BS400 for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed by it. Putting the final bits together was easy. The fence etc. are nice and straight, square and perpendicular.
I bought a couple of Tuffsaw blades for it including a 3 TPI 3/4inch blade for resaw work. It cut a very good 5mm thick veneer off a 250mm wide 1m long piece of elm without ever appearing to slow down. The finish on both boards was good, only a couple of passes through the thicknesser required.
It isn’t as physically big as you might imagine. It replaced a small 110mm depth of cut machine in my workshop and yes, the BS400 is bigger, but it fitted in the space left by the other machine. The jockey wheel and wheel kit are a must if you need to move it around. For a 140kg machine it’s very easy to move. Very pleased with my purchase.

Yandles website is great. I found all the information I needed. Their communication was fine.
After initial trouble with the delivery company, Palletforce, Yandles were brilliant at resolving the issue. Yandles chased up the delivery company, organised delivery, and passed on my negative feedback to the delivery company. The delivery company still seemed to have a breakdown in communication, with messages not getting down from their admin staff to the delivery drivers. The bandsaw itself arrived in good condition, and is running well. With the order came the three additional blades. The delivery company had mangled these beyond use, and at this stage I really couldn’t face trying to get a return or replacement through Palletforce. I rate Yandles highly, but will not use them again if it means going through Palletforce. If I lived closer to a Yandles store, I would happily pop in all the time.

I bought purchased this bandsaw a year ago and feel I have used it enough to give an authentic review. This bandsaw was the best choice for my circumstances and it hasn’t disappointed.
Firstly the order went through fine during a sale discounted period at a great price. However the delivery was terrible! The pallet courier that Yandles used absolutely ruined the bandsaw in transit or when unloading it must have toppled over. It’s only delivered on a small footprint pallet and bolted to it, so it’s too heavy. The delivery driver unloaded it way out of site and walked it a fair way instead of outside my accessible road side workshop. It came with the box absolutely mangled?? With parts inside exposed. The driver seemed oblivious to any problem and couldn’t wait to get away before unboxed it. What I found inside was a mess! The bandsaw access doors were stoves in, parts broken off. The main frame had a severe crease in the narrowist part and deformed. The thick steel extension table was crumpled and distorted. I thought it must have been dropped from a great height for this amount of damage. I think it literally fell off of the back of a lorry. Thankfully Yandles replaced it, but I have to say that I’m not sure it would have been so easy if our security cameras hadn’t picked up the heavily damaged box being wheeled up the road and into my workshop as evidence, it feels it could have been a different story. So be warned!
Now, the bandsaw that replaced it was the same model without damage and was perfect. The instructions are very well illustrated and written up in English. The cast table is flat and true, the steel extension is thick and durable and serve well to close the throat gap with more work surface. The fence can be a bit fiddly setting the fence rail up in both directions, but once it’s done I’ve never had to touch it since assembly.
I also purchased the small height fence too as the large one can be problematic with the guides on smaller work. Both fences are thick aluminium and of good quality.
I actually really like the blade guides, but I was used to them from a RP BS300 owned a while back. They do offer much more blade support than previous race bearings for sure. My previous large Axminster bandsaw costing nearly twice as much did not deliver this level of accuracy, or build quality. It was a poor relation to the BS400.
It feels and looks like a quality bandsaw with a big cutting 300mm range in depth and 400mm width. Everything is solid and simple in a good way to use. Power is non comprised by large te-sawn timbers and fine enough blade range for small finer work. It’s been accurate and reliable. I was concerned about the small dust pipe outlet under the lower guides, but it actually does manage to stay very clean. The lower 100mm dust outlet collects a lot and dust around and inside the machine is minimal.
The BS400 is midsized, so don’t be put off by the pictures. It’s roughly the same footprint as the BS300 model on the mobile stand. The BS400 has the option of a wheel kit and I bought it, because I do need to be able move my machinery around depending on the size of work.
On conclusion, it’s not an industrial saw. It’s kind of in the middle with its capacity, but it has a big heart and will work quietly all day long. I’m really happy with it and I think it’s still good value given it’s quality. Their might be more choice out there a year on, I don’t know. But I know the more money you spend doesn’t get you better quality all the time. I would by this saw again over any of the other brands after my experience with them. All that glitters isn’t necessarily gold (or trade rated grey!) 😉
