Acacia Wood Turning Blanks in either bowl blanks or spindle blanks.
European Acacia has a striking, dense appearance. The heartwood is a rich golden to medium brown, often with greenish or yellowish hues. It features a straight, fine grain, though occasionally it can show swirling or wavy patterns, especially in figured pieces. The texture is smooth, and it can have a fine to medium pore structure. Over time, the wood darkens and develops a deep, reddish-brown color with exposure to light.
European Acacia is tough and dense, making it a bit challenging to work with compared to softer hardwoods. It turns well on the lathe but requires sharp tools due to its hardness. It’s important to use slower speeds and lighter cuts to avoid burning or tear-out, especially in more complex grain patterns.
Once finished, it takes stain and polish beautifully, achieving a smooth, high-quality surface. It’s also naturally resistant to moisture, decay, and pests, making it ideal for both functional and decorative pieces like bowls, furniture, and turnings.
European Acacia is a strong, dense hardwood with a golden to reddish-brown hue and fine grain. It can be a bit demanding to work with but rewards woodturners with its durability, resistance to wear, and a beautiful finish. Ideal for high-end turned items and projects requiring strength and stability.
