Robert Sorby Shear Scrapers are a valuable tool for those who want to elevate their turning and reducing the amount of sanding they have to do.
Shear scraping is a method of woodturning which relies on the presentation of the scraper at a shear angle to peel away the wood fibres. This technique offers some significant advantages over conventional scrapers.
- At the optimum angle of 45°, the slicing action is safer and produces a superior finish
- Sanding is often unnecessary
- The risk of the cutter digging in is virtually eliminated
The ⅜” square shank sits firmly on the toolrest and presents the cutter precisely at 45° to the workpiece when used in either direction. This is due to the unique cutter seating position.
Available as an Internal (826H) or external shear scraper (827H). We supply the handled version but unhandled versions are available upon request. There will be a lead time for special orders
Replacement Cutters are also available
