Martin Saban-smith Pre-Thinned Cellulose Sanding Sealer

Volume: 500ml

A thin formulation made to soak down into the fibres rather than sit on the surface. That deep penetration firms the timber up, smooths it off, and gives you a solid foundation for whatever finish comes next. Get the sealing right and everything that follows, wax, lacquer, a friction polish, has a far better surface to work with. It’s the quiet first step that sets the tone for the whole finish.

Application

1. Shake well before use.
2. Sand and finish your work as usual, making sure the surface is free of dust.
3. If you’re using a water-based colour, apply it first and let the colours dry completely before sealing.
4. Apply the sanding sealer evenly with a paper towel or cloth and allow it to dry thoroughly.
5. Add more coats until the surface is smooth, letting it dry between each.
6. Lightly de-nib the dry sealer before you apply your final finish.

Uses: For sealing decorative pieces before a final finish such as wax or lacquer.

Colour and Aroma: White in the bottle once shaken. Smells of solvents.

Container and Storage: Supplied in a 500ml berg-top tin. Store in a cool, dry place, ideally between 10° and 30°C (50° and 90°F) where possible. Protect from extreme heat and freezing, and keep out of direct sunlight.

Longevity: Stored well, expect around twelve months from opening, depending on how often you reach for it. The solvents evaporate slowly over time, so it will thicken as it ages.
