Harvey Compass Universal Bandsaw / Table Saw Roller Guide System RG-2

The RG-2 Universal Guide, is another innovative development by Harvey to help Woodworkers.

This Universal Guide acts as an ideal work piece holder when used on a table saws or bandsaws. It provides a safe and effective method to improve cutting.

A New Idea For Safer Cutting

During wood cutting, it is always essential to have a device to hold the work piece firmly and evenly against the fence. It will eliminate stock chattering, ensure cutting quality and most importantly protect your fingers from being damaged. However, most of the devices on the market (such as the feather boards) cannot handle this job effectively. They either cannot provide enough holding pressure to the stock, or cannot provide even pressure to the stock.

Independent Suspension Mechanism (ISM)

The Compass Roller Guide features two guiding rollers to hold the work piece during cutting. The two rollers make hand feeding much more comfortable compared to using feather boards.  The tires of the rollers are specially made of polyurethane rubber which can enhance the superior grip friction while bringing no damage to the stock.

One-way Roller Bearings 

The two rollers are riding on 2 One-way bearings which have a much bigger reverse resistance to reduce the risk of kickbacks. The feed direction of the rollers can be selected by reversing the body of the roller guide. The unique Independent Suspension Mechanism (ISM) enables the two rollers to keep even vertical pressure to the work piece during cutting, this will greatly prevent work piece chattering.

Infinite Holding Force Adjustment

Using the self-locking Cam structure, the holding force is infinitely adjustable (15 – 22lbs / 70 – 100N) through an intuitive adjusting knob which gives you the optimized holding force for different cutting scenarios.

Seamless T-slot Mounts 

This Roller Guide can be used on any other woodworking machines with the standard US type T-slot size (1″ x 3/4″ x 3/8″)

The precision Bridge-Type T-slot bar equipped on the body is able to eliminate the lateral movement of the body in mounting to the worktable, which ensures both of the rollers touch the stock with even pressure for high cutting stability.
