The Clifton Bench Plane blades are made from 01 steel that is cryogenically treated. These plane blades have a hardness of 60 to 62 Rockwell C hardness and the cryogenic treatment means these blades will hold their edge for longer. This ensures that Clifton blades take an edge better than most other blades and hold it for a longer period of time. These blades are 0.150-0.0155″ thick (3.8-3.9mm) thick and so give them increased rigidity. They are then accurately ground, laser marked with the brand name and then individually checked for hardness. Wipe with oil after use to protect from rust and finger marks, these blades will give you excellent planing work.
