Price for this is not much higher than buying separate connectors and hose. The connector minimises the noise at the extractor/hose interface and is worth it if noise levels are a primary concern.

The hoses do exactly what they are supposed to do plus they direct any fine dust that avoids the filters outside. I have them running to a plate in the side of my workshop with a wire mesh cover over them to stop any rodents.
