Yandles Development- What’s New On-Site?

Updated April 2026

At the start of this year, we announced a new five-year development plan for Yandles. This plan includes improvements to our sawmill, retail stores, and online store. While a lot has been happening behind the scenes – such as a new dust extraction system in our mill, an updated stock control system, and upgrades to our website and accounting systems – we’re now starting to see big changes happening around the Yandles site!

We first broke ground in June of this year for our new substation. Trenches were dug from our existing substation and sawmill to the site of the new warehouse to lay cables. Concrete was then poured, and bricks were laid to complete the base, preparing it for the installation of the new station.

During the digging of the cable trenches, we were pleasantly surprised to uncover long-forgotten rail tracks and sleepers! These tracks were once used to transport large logs from the entrance, where they would have been unloaded from delivery trucks, onto a carriage that was manually pushed into the sawmill. Site inspector woody was first on scene!

Once we had completed the substation base and cable trenches, National Grid arrived on site to take down the disused over head lines. This was extremely important for the development of our new warehouse as the lines would have been too low for the construction of the building.

After the lines were taken care of and the substation installed, we then were switched from old to new. For a day the whole site was ran on several generators. while it was slightly nerve-racking, the whole process went very smoothly!

August marked the start of our warehouse development. First, the base of the structure was marked out before foundations were dug and concrete poured. A few weeks later, the initial warehouse structure begun to take shape! Soon, we had the makings of a real building.

Cladding of the warehouse walls began very quickly after the initial structure was completed. By mid September, almost all the cladding was in place leaving openings for fire exits, the personnel entrance and the main warehouse door.

Soon September turned into October and with it brought a roof to the warehouse! It took around 2 weeks to complete before we were finally able to take a look inside. If you have visited our current warehouse you can no doubt appreciate how much of an upgrade the new warehouse will be for Yandles. Now that the roof has been installed, the next step is to pour concrete for the floor and complete the inner walls!

The colder months haven’t slowed the work on the warehouse. Now that the walls and roof were up, next on the list was the floor. Starting very early in the morning and working late into the night, the floor was poured, hardened and polished in one day. Once the floor was safe to work with, the internal brick walls were started.

Next was to add the new main door (big enough for a forklift to operate in and out of) as well as the personnel door, which leads directly into the warehouse office. The electricians have been working to connect power to the building and complete the wiring within. The warehouse is now fully alarmed and the sawmill are currently building timber racking to house our bench slats ready for the new year!

It is the end of January and our new wearhouse is now complete! It took a few days to move all our stock over however we are pleased to say the finished warehouse is now fully operational, shipping orders and receiving stock.

Next on the agenda was moving the existing carport to make space for the extended car park. We didn’t think it was possible but the the carport was moved fully assembled, across the site to its new home behind the Toolshop. A new green oak kit and cladding display was then erected on the side of the old wearhouse, ready for the new green oak shop.

Next on our development was our plans to change the existing old warehouse into a brand new shop – Yandles Pet Supplies! First the walls and floor was painted before adding a counter, built in house. Meanwhile, our team built our custom designed porch at the front. This was design, drawn and sourced by our sawmill. Yandles Pet supplies had its first opening day on the 7th of April and is now open 7 days a week!
