The Robert Sorby TRAC is the perfect addition for every woodturner.
A common problem for every Woodturner whilst turning, is that when a new height position is required, and the locking handle is released, the tool rest drops, and the position is lost. The new Robert Sorby TRAC allows the tool rest height to be easily adjusted up or down, by up to 1⁄2”/13mm, by just turning the outer adjustment ring.
The TRAC ensures the tool rest stays at the personally set height, even when the tool rest locking handle is released, allowing the tool rest to be moved to a new position without the need to reset the height prior to locking into place. The Acetal seating disc allows the TRAC to operate smoothly and easily.
The Robert Sorby TRAC is available in nine sizes, to suit the standard tool rest stem of virtually every lathe available in the world, as well as the full range of stems from the Robert Sorby modular tool rest system. The inner rings are colour coded for ease of recognition to fit the required stem diameter.
*TIP: Adjust the outer ring so around 1⁄4”/6mm of the inner ring is protruding to allow foreasy up and down adjustment.

"OK. So this is just a ring that can be mounted on a tool post to adjust the height of the tool rest fixed loosely on it...... And it does just that!
The finer points are that the ring is in two concentric pieces, one of which locks to the post with a grub screw, while the outer part rotates around the inner raising and lowering the rest, resting on it. All works well. - Some points .... it is easy to lose the grub screw as it is very small and is accessed through a slot in ring which you must line up. A small dot is provided on the inner ring to help the location. The Plastic Ring that the adjustment ring rests on is easily misplaced as it is thin and light and sits beneath the ring. There also appears to be an upside and downside to the adjustment ring into which the plastic ring locates.
I quite like it! and it works for me!"

Only shame is the grub screw is too small and first rime I tried to alter the height it rounded the Allen key
