I wouldn’t normally buy this because the price would seem on the face of it to be too low for the item to have any quality. However I was pleasantly surprised with this set. I was able to use them from the box ,the blades seem to be of a good quality steel and when I did sharpen them they took an edge easily . The handles were not fantastic but still useful ! In short I was stunned that I didn’t just use these as a sort of ‘back-up’ set ! If you are looking for a starter set then these really are not bad and very good where it counts ..ie the blades ! Hope this helps someone .

Like other people that have reviewed this product I thought I would be getting what I paid for. I am new to wood turning so I did not want to spend a fortune if I didn’t take to it. How wrong I was the chisels are great and I have made some simple things with them that look really good for a beginner.
I have since bought carbide tipped but always go back to these to finish off as they give a very smooth finish. Very satisfied.5 star for the money

So, I am a relative novice woodturner who is trying to learn the ropes. I bought a premium set of chisels before realising that so much depended on technique, both turning and sharpening. By purchasing this cheaper set of chisels I am now happy to turn (destroy) all manner of scrappy bits of wood whilst learning, not worrying about harming the chisels and also experimenting with different grinds on the gouges, again without worrying about the tool. Having said that, the chisels hold an edge very well and have produced some good work. I may well be back for another set when I grind these away.
Totally recommended for improving your skills.

This is very cheap set of chisels that I bought as my first set (I was waiting for the Robert Sorby Starter set to come back into stock). I used these to learn how to use and sharpen them correctly and managed to successfully complete a few pieces. Very happy with these for the price which was less than half that of a single RS chisel.

bought the chisel set to start my 18 year old grandson off wood turning, under instruction he produced a bowl in a day and has developed a taste for it, the chisels were perfectly adequate for a beginner and I myself did enjoy a little play with them.

I’m new to turning & I’m only doing it as a hobby/interest so I bought these chisels as they were cheap & not wanting to buy really good chisels at this time. What a surprise ! Everything you’re going to need is in the set & although they are at the bottom end of turning chisels they are more than up to the job ! So far they have performed exactly as I needed, & with care in their use they do the job well. They take a good edge when sharpened. Care for them & they’ll do what they are designed to do. In short, great value, very good price & having a few other Silverline tools they meet they same quality. Very fast delivery from Yandles. Will definetly be using their store again

I had bought some much more expensive turning tools and realised that I would need to frequently sharpen them. I bought this set so that I could practice my sharpening skills on less costly steel. They served that purpose and turned out to be an effective and useful set of tools as well.

You can’t really go wrong with this value set. They are obviously not top end tools but they do the job and punch well above their weight.
