The Veritas Low Angle Block Plane stands apart from many others. Its 12° bed angle and low cutting angle of 37° excel at working end grain. It has higher side wings ideal for shooting, finger grips in each side for better control, and a combined blade advance and lateral adjust that is the most sensitive and accurate available. Two blade guide screws prevent blade shifting. Its compact 162mm long by 50mm wide ductile cast iron body can take hard knocks and the adjustable nosepiece does not extend past the body. It weighs 790g(1.3/4lb) and includes a lapped 3.2mm thick by 41mm wide, 25° blade in a choice of steels (O1 or PM-V11. For working difficult wood, 38° and 50° bevel blades are also available. The lapped blades have a flatness tolerance of ±0.005mm or better over the working surface, and with an average roughness surface finish of 0.000127mm(5 micro inches) or better.

Hello
I recently retired and my colleagues gave me gift vouchers, I used them to buy a Veritas Low Angle Jack Plane. I was so pleased with the Jack plane I had to buy its smaller brother the Block Plane, which I am also very pleased with.

Wanted a replacement for my old Stanley an had looked around .I found that themodern versions are awful a couldn’t justify spending £50 on a block plane that was so awfully machine that I use everyday. So I did some research an everyone raves about the quality of the VERITAS and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Expensive but worth the money an will last you a lifetime. Plane iron holds the edge pretty well depending on what you are doing . In my opinion go for it your won’t be disappointed
